Choosing kindness isn’t choosing weakness.
Choosing yourself doesn’t have to be selfish.
Sweet Cindy teaches us many, many lessons. From her humble attic room, she gets up every single day with a smile and a dream and continues to work in her suffocating home with grace. We should all admire her work ethic.
We’re quick to say that Cinderella waits for a man to save her. But honestly she works for the opportunity to leave. When the invite comes, she offers to do more work for the simple chance to attend a dance. She isn’t waiting for the Prince to come in and save her, that’s just an added bonus.
We all have our challenges. tragic happens to everyone. wicked stepmothers lock us away. we get dumped. we live in toxic households. we’re lonely.
when people are mean out of spite, respond with kindness. when you don’t feel like you can leave, have courage and get out. when life opens doors to better opportunities, take them. if we realize that situations are toxic, for whatever reason, admit that. even if you are the only one who feels that way, you cannot stay in a place that is unhealthy especially if you have the ability to change it. if you hurt someone in the process, say sorry.
magic happens too. fairy godmothers appear. we recover. we move. we engage. we grow. we choose to see light instead of darkness and not only seek it but fight for it.
we line our lips with honey instead of gearing up for battle because we know despite it all kindness is sweeter.
Kindness will always win. It will produce the true friendships. Ones that cross oceans and states and years of space. Ones that produce magic and happiness and never judge.
Cinderella chose kindness and it won her a crown. We may not have any glass slippers on the line, but imagine what will happen when we have the courage to treat ourselves and others with unwavering kindness. It could change the world. ✨
